Skincare routine for this summer

During the summer season, the common problem which we have is tan. Generally, the moisture in the skin varies to the temperature, weather, and season. For example, our skin will be soft and brighten in the winter season, whereas in summer the skin looks dull and dried. According to Ayurveda, our body flushes out the waste through urine, sweat, and excreta. At the same time, the body should not flush the waste rapidly or slowly. This will lead to a problem in our body. Also, our body keeps sweating every time even when we sleep. During the summer season due to our body temperature, the sweat glands produce more sweat.




Apart from sweating in the summer season, our skin is also affected by irritation, rashes, prickly heat, dehydration, etc. People who are wandering outside in the summer season are more affected compared to people who sit and work in the AC room. Let us see some simple and easy home remedies that are to be followed in this summer and to remove the tan from the skin.

Consume more amounts of watery fruits and vegetables like watermelon, cucumber, tender coconut, grapes, ridge gourd (peerkangai), snake gourd (pudalangai), bottle gourd (suraikai), palm fruit (nungu), orange, lettuce, strawberries, etc. These watery fruits and vegetables reduce the tan which is caused by sweat and keeps the skin moisturized.



Neem leaves contain several medicinal properties in it. Neem leaves have anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties. Neem leaves play a major role in protecting the skin. The neem leaves help to cure and treat acne, pimples, tan, etc. and keeps the skin smooth and moisturized. Hence, it is advised to steam the neem leaves in water and use this water for bathing. Also, grinding the neem leaves with turmeric and sandal into a fine paste. This mixture can also be used while bathing. It protects the skin from all skin problems and keeps the skin moisturized.



Both Vetiver and sandal has cooling properties to reduce body heat. Soaking Vetiver in water and drinking this water gives more health and medicinal benefits to your body. Also, the sandal has the cooling property to reduce body heat.Sandalwood fights against acne, rashes, and other skin problems. Applying an equal amount of Vetiver powder, sandalwood powder with fuller’s earth (Multani mitti) and rose water to your skin keeps the skin moisturized and smooth.

Avoid eating and drinking fried foods, preserved foods, carbonated drinks, smoking, alcohol, etc. this delays the process of digestion in the body and affects your body. Eat whole grains, millets, greens, fresh fruits, and vegetables.



Kadukkai (Myrobalan), nutmeg, and thandrikkai. Grind all these into powder and apply on the affected region on the skin, it has the healing properties to cure. Also, reduces the bad odor from sweat glands.



Doing oil massage to both skin and hair keeps the skin moisturized, smooth and soft. Coconut oil, gingelly oil, castor oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, etc. can be used.
