Factors causing dark circles


People who generally sleep late at night and who sleep with fewer hours get dark circles around their eyes within two to three days. Also, people who get angry and tensed most times, and people who are mentally depressed get dark circles around their eyes.

People who are sad and depressed will get dark circles around their eyes. Nutrition deficiency, dehydration also cause dark circles. Heavy eye makeup and not removing makeup also cause dark circles. Sensitive skin gets affected. Also, drinking and smoking cause dark circles.


Factors causing eye irritation


Dry eyes or dry eye syndrome: if you feel your eyes dry, scratchy, or stinging, you can have dry eyes. Dry eyes are caused due to a lack of moisture and tears to your eyes.


Allergies and irritants: when caused because of pet animals, tobacco smoke, chlorinated water, etc. resulting in itchiness, watery in eyes, red eyes, etc.


Contact lens: can also irritate your eyes. Wearing a contact lens over a long time can cause eye irritation. One must not use contact lenses when eyes are irritated and red-colored.

Heavy and old eye makeup products can cause your eyes irritated, itchy, and watery. Sometimes also leads to blurred vision.

Now, let us see some simple and easy home remedies for both eye irritation and dark circles.


Home remedies for dark circles:


Sleeping in the late night and minimum hours of duration in sleep causes dark circles around your eyes. Hence, it is advised to sleep for 6 to 8 hours every day. Keeping yourself calm and fresh will reduce dark circles. When you are mentally good, everything will be fine. So, keep your body and mind fresh and calm.


Nutrition deficiency also results in dark circles, hence take a balanced diet, eating of carrot, beans, fig, beetroot, cashew, pistachios, almonds, etc. Eating small portions of healthy food removes the dark circles around your eyes. Also, eating Triphala powder is good for the eyes.


Take 1 teaspoon of orange peel powder with 2 teaspoons of rose water. Mix it into a paste, apply this around the eyes. This will reduce dark circles.


Taking equal portions of lemon juice and tomato juice, mixing, and applying on the eyelids twice a day will reduce the dark circles.


Mixing 1 teaspoon of besan flour with 1 teaspoon of rose water and applying also results in reducing the dark circles.


Take a handful of mint leaves and grind it and store it in the refrigerator. Applying this to eyelids also helps in reducing dark circles.


Mix 4 to 6 teaspoons of rose water with 3 teaspoons of Multani mitti and apply it on the face. Rest for a few minutes and wash the face. This helps in brightening the face and reduces the dark circles.


Home remedies for eye irritation:


Applying aloe vera gel on the eyelids reduces the irritation as it has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Aloe vera is a natural healer; it is a boon for us that nature has gifted. Mix 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel with 1 teaspoon of water, soak cotton balls in it. And keep on eyelids.


Cold compress is an effective method for eye irritation. Take a clean, soft cotton cloth and soak it in cold water and place it on eyelids. This will reduce eye irritation and keep your eyes cool.


Castor oil is good for curing eye irritation. Eye drops with castor oil can be used. Pour one drop on each eye before sleeping. Also, applying castor oil on eyelids reduces eye irritation.


Body heat also causes eye irritation. Soaking fenugreek in water overnight and drinking this next morning in an empty stomach after brushing is good for health. This will reduce body heat. Eyes are sensitive during the summer season, the hot air, pollutions and other allergic factors can cause eyes red-colored with irritation. Hence, it is advisable to wash the eyes with cold water every day.
