Why these Fruits and Vegetables DON'T like Fridge?

The refrigerator was found to preserve the foods for longer days and to protect them. But we started to keep our daily leftovers and dump all the fruits and vegetables inside it. We started to dump into the fridge daily. But, many forget to take back them from the fridge. So, the food, fruits, and vegetables get poisoned, and also, it leaves a bad odor.

 

Here, we will see why these fruits and vegetables DON’T like the refrigerator.

 

 


 

Green Chilies

 


 

We shouldn’t store green chilies inside the fridge. Because the cold temperature makes the chilies to start decomposing and also changes the color of it. So, storing green chilies in the open air is a good choice.

 

Garlic 

 


 

           

The taste of garlic gets reduced when it is kept inside the fridge. So, like green chilies, it is best to keep garlic also outside.

 

Onion

 



You will get a pungent smell when you keep onion inside the fridge. Also, the nutrients like folic acids, quercetin gets reduced. So, keeping onion outside the fridge in the open air doesn’t change the taste of the onion and the nutrients will not be dead.

 

Pumpkin, Bottle Gourd (Watery Vegetables)

 



Keeping pumpkin, bottle gourd, and other watery vegetables inside the refrigerator remove the water content from them, and the taste of the vegetables get changed.

 

Potato

 


 

 

For some people, it is allergic to eat potatoes which are kept inside the refrigerator, so storing potatoes in the open air is best.

 

Greens and Spinach

 

Storing greens, spinach, coriander, mint leaves, etc. inside the fridge removes the water content from them, so it is good to store them in a bowl containing water up to stem level. This leaves keeping your greens fresh.

 

Tomato

 


 

 

Storing tomatoes inside the fridge reduces the taste and nutrients from them. The water content and the shining skin of them get reduced and dull. It is okay to keep them inside the fridge but, not for longer days.

 

Watermelon & Muskmelon

 


 

 

It is good to keep watermelon and muskmelon outside itself. But when it is cut it can be kept inside the fridge maximum for 2 days, storing more than it reduces the water content from them.

 

Cut fruits

 


 

It is very bad to keep cut fruits inside the fridge, all the nutrient level comes down and the fruits get a dull look. It is always healthy to eat cut fruits immediately.
